Patellar Tendonitis

Patellar tendonitis (more appropriately named patellar tendonosis because a patellar tendonitis implies there’s too much inflammation and blood supply, while patellar tendonosis is a lack of inflammation and blood supply). It is typically caused by overuse of your knee, especially by athletes that do a lot of jumping or cutting.  The pain is at the lower part of your patella, or knee cap, in the middle.

The treatment for patellar tendonosis is to stretch the quadriceps and message the area of soreness.  Back off the offending activity until the symptoms disappear. If there’s periods of increased discomfort ice the involved area.  I suggest staying away from from NSAID’s while you are healing.
